Follow I-85 North to I-985. Left on I-985 which becomes 23/365 North. 23/365 becomes 23/441 North. Follow to Franklin. Approximately 125 miles.

FROM ASHEVILLE, NC

Take I-40 West to Exit 27 (23 South/74 West). Follow to Exit 81 (U.S. 441/23 South). Approximately 65 miles.

FROM CHARLOTTE, NC

Take I-85 west to US 74. Continue west on US 74 to I-26. Go north on I-26 to I-40. Take I-40 west to Exit 27 (US 74, the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway). Continue West on US 74 past Waynesville and Sylva to Exit 81. Follow to Franklin. Approximately 180 miles.

FROM KNOXVILLE, Tennessee

I-40 East to Exit 20 (Hwy 276 South). Stay on 276 until reaching 23/74 South. Follow to Exit 81 (U.S. 441/23 South). Approximately 130 miles.

Climate

 

Franklin is truly a town of four distinct seasons. Summer temperatures average in the mid 80s while winter temperatures rarely fall below the upper teens. Cool fall mornings give way to the first frost.

July is the warmest month of the year and the coldest, on average, is January.

Average annual precipitation in the Franklin area is nearly 55 inches with the wettest month usually being March. Most of the precipitation is rain although the late fall and winter can bring mountain snows from flurries to several inches.
